My friend Kristi has a blog that she writes in regularly.  We both are working towards a Masters in Writing, and I just never thought about getting a blog myself.  But as I’ve watched her blog, I realized that it has opened doors to her that our two and a half hour classes could never offer.  It allowed me to connect with her, and learn about her.  It has become a daily part of my routine to read her blog, and finally, just today, I got up the nerve to ask her about it.  She encouraged me to start my own blog, so please bear with me as I figure out the ins and outs of such a world.

Writing is, and has always been, a passion of mine.  As a child, I was either curled up with a book or curled up with a notebook.  Either way, I was delving into universes far beyond that exact moment I was in.  When I first went back to school last fall, Kristi and I were randomly paired up with each other.  We talked politely, asked the mandated questions, then went back to our safely distanced desks.  As the weeks went on, we started slowly talking more, and we came to find that we share similiar approaches to writing.

In a program like ours, egos war with each other for the most attention.  It’s disarming, alarming, and at times, even intimidating.  I write when I feel the desire to write.  I have so much else going on in my life that I am not quite ready to sacrifice my 4 AMs for that bit of scribble.  Someday, maybe.  But for now, I’m content.  But to my fellow students, that isn’t nearly enough.  To Kristi, it is exactly right.

Last night, she wrote a lovely cadence for autumn.  The seasons are changing, and with that change, comes inspiration.  So welcome…may you find something of worth here…
